Open Match
The doom merchants were out in force prior to this match, and the advice to cancel came from a few corners, but it was decided that the match should go ahead because in even the worst of weathers the venue will fish well. It just takes longer to break the ice.
After a few rows up and down the lake, Gaz soon had the lake clear enough for fishing.
The noted pegs to draw included the infamous snatch lake, and when Keith Ashby drew the peg that had won the previous weeks match he wasted no time in finding out what he had to do to repeat the victory.
Despite the foul weather that had seen temperatures dip as low an minus 10 midweek, it was Keith on the snatch lake that won the match again with a very respectable 46lb.
Close on Keith's heels from an unfancied peg 3 on the Pump House lake, was GOT Baits co-owner Trev Price who showed his versatility by catching 139 Rudd before looking for his favourite carp on a longer line. He immediately found the Carp he needed to boost his weight to a fine 40lb, enough to finish in a fine second place. He even took some time off during the match for some 'baby sitting duties'.
In third place Mick Hill took a very good 38lb, the Luton based angler was also drawn on the popular winter Snatch Lake.
