Intersite Challenge Match

GOT Baits v Total Fishing v Maggot Drowners

Intersite Challenge.

This was a match that every one taking part in was looking forward to. With all the pre match banter the match had just a little extra spice. The format was 3 teams of 13 so the sections were divided up into 13 x 3.

On paper it was going to be a tight affair with plenty of talent on show from all 3 teams. The pre-match talk was mostly focused on Keith Arthur's recent wrestling's with some Florida based Jew Fish that had kept himself, some friends (including Wilkie) very busy and extremely happy.

The Total Fishing and Maggot Drowning anglers seemed to have got the jump on the local knowledge of the GOT Baits matchmen in the opening exchanges, with Wheelie shooting off from Peg 3 in the opening hour - at one stage looking like he was going to win the contest for his team all on his own! The overall result was on total team weight, so Wheelie's exploits had a few of us worried. However, come the all out it was the Local knowledge on the day came through with G.O.T Baits winning 11 of the 13 sections and taking the honors from the total fishing site with a winning margin of just under 270lb! It seemed the slowly, slowly, catchy Monkey was best on the day. Many of the GOT Lads managed to catch on and off for the whole 5 hours, which had a massive impact as revealed by the scales as they navigated their way round the complex.

Top individual on the day was Tony Taylor (GOT Baits) with a fine 112 lb. Tony had drawn peg 30 and fished 6mm Expander pellet 10m over 'pinged' 4mm pellet for his win. His weight would have been much greater but being skylined in the last hour lost him his fish and Keith Arthur took a grip on the paste on the next peg and sprinted his way into the frame in an action packed last hour. On Peg 32 Lloyd Rush (GOT Baits) had been fishing at 9m feeding all his feed via a small kinder egg, a method that kept fish coming until the final hour - when he got skylined too! Potting the hook pellet in with the feed pellet and letting the two drop through the water together resulted in some steady sport for the Bath based matchman who took a fine 99 lb for runners up spot ahead of the Total-Fishing's matchmen Keith Arthur. A popular Top 3 without doubt.

Total Fishing match angler Keith fished a blinding 5hrs, notwithstanding a few lost fish and considering he sang through most of the match Keith reminded us all his not just a popular 'Jurno' but a fine matchman too. With the average weight being 60lb, it all goes to show why this is considered to be on of the best fisheries around and continues to grow in it popularity as a top match venue.

Tony Taylor
GOT Baits

Match Winner Tony Taylor took the 100lb+ weight of the day from Peg 29. Tony suffered from a number of 'dropped' fish in the early hours of the match but looked nothing other that the winner for the rest of the match. Tony was one of 11 GOT Baits anglers to win his 3 man section on the day.
