Open Match

This weeks Match was all about who was going to draw peg 1?

With the GOT Baits forum banter pointing at who would draw peg 1, it soon became apparent that it would be every man for himself at the draw it was everyman and his dog that wanted the red-hot-peg . With this in mind Gaza Thorpe said "I want it", and that was that, out it came - peg 1 for Gary.

With Gaz drawing peg 1, mother nature decided it was going to take a break in the cold weather and supplied the Oxfordshire based angler with a fine draw and a sunny spring day to set about weighing in a fine 123lb for a fancied match win.

In second, not Trev but, the ever green Jim Stubbing's who improved his recent run of 3rds and 4ths with a very respectable 61lb. While some around him were moaning about the conditions, Jim just got his head down and caught well for most of the match. Mick Hill with 52lb took 3rd place with a great display of pole short and pellet fishing.

Elsewhere, with over 300 fish was Roy Makins - you can take the boy from the canal but you never take the canal from the boy - with 43lb of Rudd roy was kept very busy for the full 5 hours and returned a fine net of fish. Mark Williams (Advanced pole fishing) took 6th with 37lb on his first visit to the venue.

(Stock photo) Gary came very close to fishing as well as he did drawing today! Nothing changes, same old Gaz.
